The Code Compliance section of the Community Risk Reduction is responsible for enforcing the fire code in new and existing occupancies. Code compliance is achieved through code development, pre-application and pre-development meetings, plan review of new construction and fire protection systems, and inspection of new and existing commercial occupancies for the purpose of identifying and correcting fire and life safety hazards. This Code Compliance section also responds to complaints about violations.
Although Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue protects the cities of Lake Stevens and Monroe, a large portion of the fire district is located in unincorporated Snohomish County. Inspection activities are conducted by Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue within the cities; inspections within unincorporated Snohomish County are performed by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal's office.
